Kari Luckett writing on seasonal jobs…

Are you starting to worry about how much you’ll spend this holiday season? Is your savings a little less than you originally thought? With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s a good idea to work extra hours or take on side jobs to bring in additional income.

Last year holiday spending was its strongest in five years, with Black Friday coming in first as the most popular shopping day for the holidays. That means you’ve got to act fast to get your resume submitted and training complete before you can start making extra dough!

If you enjoy working from home, you can keep that dream alive by working a remote, seasonal position. In today’s gig economy, you can pay for all your holiday shopping without ever needing to change out of your pajamas (isn’t that amazing?). Here are some remote options to consider this holiday season:

Amazon is currently looking for part-time, full-time, and seasonal work from home customer service associates. You will be working with customers over the phone or via live chat to help solve problems and assist with any customer needs. Applicants should have a fast internet connection and be familiar with different browsers, chat platforms and email tools. Basic phone, communication, computer navigation and basic typing skills are required. Available positions vary a bit and are only available in some states (check this list to see if you qualify).

Convergys, an outsourced customer service company, is hiring seasonal customer service agents for a gourmet food and gifts retailer. The job requires you to have a minimum-sized monitor of 15.6” and your headset and flash drive must be approved prior to the start-date. Schedules will vary, but they do require applicants to be available 7-days a week. Convergy’s offers paid training and an hourly rate of $11.50. The job description states that they are looking for agents in Pennsylvania, but it is a remote position.

Museum Hack

Museum Hack is looking to hire one part-time customer service rep with the option of moving to a full-time contractor position. If interested, you should be available to work 15-20 hours per week, with occasional weekends required. The company is based out of New York, so you must be available to work during East Coast hours. The pay is $12-15 per hour depending on your experience. If you are a fast typer, have customer service experience, and speak nearly perfect English, this could be a great position for you!

Nordstrom is hiring seasonal customer care specialists with training beginning in early November. Although the position is advertised as a work-from-home position, you must train in their office for the first three weeks. There are part-time and full-time shifts available, and pay starts at $14.65/hour with incentive opportunities and employee discounts. Nordstrom will even throw in a $500 bonus for employees who finish out the season.

TeleTech, a customer experience and contact center partner, is hiring for remote, part-time seasonal employees. Employees are expected to work 20-30 hours per week to assist customers with their questions about products and services. The position is not available in all states and does require six or more months of customer service experience and a high school diploma (or equivalent).

Warby Parker

Warby Parker, a trendy online-based eyeglass retailer, is hiring part-time customer experience advisors to help customers with their shopping experience. You must be available to work at least 20 hours per week, including some weekends. This position requires a three-day training period in their Nashville office, so it’s suggested that applicants live in the Nashville area. Perks of this position include a retirement savings plan, free annual eye exam, free eyewear, and discounts.
